Over the past two weeks, we’ve been delighted to welcome Sam Glossop to JYM Partnership for a work experience placement. Sam quickly became part of the team, bringing enthusiasm, professionalism and a willingness to learn. From supporting colleagues across the business to getting involved in live projects, he embraced every opportunity and demonstrated exactly why investing in young talent is so important.
During his placement, Sam gained experience across a range of building surveying activities, including technical drawing, defect diagnosis, AutoCAD, radon monitoring, heritage projects and large-scale repair works. Reflecting on his time with us, Sam said:
“My week at JYM has been incredibly valuable. I gained a genuine insight into how building surveying works in practice — from technical drawing and defect diagnosis to understanding the importance of strong client relationships.
The team were generous with their time, helping me develop my AutoCAD skills, introducing me to radon monitoring, and involving me in a wide range of live projects, from heritage sites to large-scale repair works. I appreciated being trusted with real responsibilities, which made a huge difference to my learning.
Everyone made me feel welcome from day one, and I’m very grateful for the support, patience and encouragement throughout the placement. The experience has reinforced how much practical judgement, communication and trust matter in this profession, and it’s given me a lot to take forward as I complete my studies.”
Providing meaningful opportunities for young people is a core part of JYM Partnerships’ Social Value commitment. By supporting work experience placements and early career development, we aim to help young people build skills, confidence and industry knowledge that will benefit them in their future careers.
Thank you, Sam, for your hard work and positive contribution. We wish you every success with your studies and look forward to seeing where your career takes you. 👏
