A sports pavilion built to Football Foundation standards

As lead consultant, JYM provided architectural design, quantity surveying and Principal Designer services, coordinated the mechanical and electrical design by a specialist sub-consultant, and administered the building contract through to completion.

The fully accessible building was designed to Football Foundation standards and includes:

  • Changing rooms for two teams
  • Referee changing rooms
  • A social and coaching room for community use
  • Sports equipment storage
  • Welfare facilities
  • External viewing areas

Consultation and approvals

Before the full planning application was submitted, we held pre-planning consultations with the Football Foundation, Sport England, the local planning authority and Local Authority Building Control, and built their feedback into the developed design. Working alongside Chorley Council, we also presented the proposals at public consultation events to inform local residents and gather their views.

Cost and sustainability

Budget costings were prepared at an early stage to confirm the project was viable. Investigations of the existing utilities meant the incoming services could be fully reused, and measures to reduce the building's carbon footprint were considered throughout the design.

The completed pavilion is now used by a local junior football club. The project drew on our experience of working with local authorities, tenants and other stakeholders through the approvals process.
