Corporate Responsibility
Making a Difference
At JYM, we take pride in creating meaningful social value across everything we do. We are deeply connected to the communities we serve, the regions we operate in, and the people we train and work alongside. Our team is local, and we actively support local businesses by prioritising them within our supply chain.
We recognise the importance of being accountable for our social, economic, and environmental impact. Our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy defines this commitment and guides our engagement with society and the local community. It focuses on three key areas:
Community Engagement & Local Supply Chain
We actively support our local community through initiatives that inspire and educate. For example, we work closely with schools by participating in careers events, fairs, and mock interviews—sharing insights into the construction industry and helping young people explore future opportunities.
We also offer work experience placements, giving young adults the chance to shadow our Surveyors and gain hands-on exposure to the construction industry.
In addition, we manage our own regional supply chain and strive to work with local suppliers wherever possible, ensuring that our projects benefit businesses within the North West region.
Charitable Giving
Supporting local charities and community groups is central to our ethos. Some examples include:
- Long-term support for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, with donations and workplace fundraising for over five years.
- Partnering with the Salvation Army during their 2023 Christmas Present Appeal by providing a collection point for gifts to children in need.
- Sponsoring local sports teams, including providing new kits for a Preston-based children’s football team in 2024.
- Contributing to community events, from sports club fundraisers to school theatre productions.
Sustainability
JYM is proud to be certified to the UKAS Accredited ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Standard, ensuring we consider the environmental impact of all our activities.
Our RICS-qualified team promotes sustainable design solutions and incorporates life-cycle considerations into every project. We review designs to identify opportunities for improved environmental performance.
We monitor and measure all activities to reduce carbon emissions, manage waste streams responsibly, and conserve resources across our operations.
